I would expect that, guided by Jah's Magic Spirit and Whiz-Dumb, they would buy 2.6 billion tickets.

Powerball Jackpot up to 1.3 Billion Dollars. Do you think the governing body bought any tickets?
by My Name is of No Consequence inwhat if the governing body members bought a ticket or somehow obtained one.
then the unthinkable happens...they won!
how would they be able to hide that?

shunning is bad
by Sabin inso i had a phone conversation last night, i'm not proud of myself but that is how the cookie crumbles.
started off all well & good then up came the arc which i was informed was all propaganda & the oct 2012 polices i got from the internet are apostate & not true.
so i lost the plot, completely lost it, & let out everything i was feeling.

I predicted a lottery number from a pattern, is the lottery NOT random or is random held to a universal force?
by EndofMysteries ini've studied and observed several lottery patterns.
this one is now gone so nothing lost by revealing it.
i had a certain history search and noticed that almost each week the past few months a list of numbers not used recently were being used 1 per week.

SaintBertholdt said, "...Lottery numbers are True Random Numbers..."
I'm not convinced. If they were TRUE random numbers, wouldn't it be possible to have the winning number come out as "1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1," or some other absurd result?
Such a result is not possible because when a number comes up, it is removed from the set of remaining possible winning numbers.
I think that lottery numbers are high-order pseudo-random numbers.
What sayest thou, Frere Bertholdt?

by FatFreek 2005 init's up to some 800 zillion dollars now and hasn't suckered me in yet.

pepperheart complained, "it really bugs me that they give such stupid amounts of money out in one large prize and that is why i dont take part just think how many prizes there would be at $50,000 for a win."
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you DO NOT KNOW that so far 18,315,365 people have won money from their powerball ticket.
Every time a Powerball ticket is bought, a massive 50% goes towards prizes (20% into the jackpot pool, the other 30% towards other prizes). The remaining 50% goes to the state where the ticket was bought to cover operating costs, retailer costs and of course good causes.
Of course, not all of those were BIG winners, but I think that 18 million prizes might be enough to satisfy you.
See? The truth does set one free, doesn't it?
Wish me luck, I'm hoping for my third superball win next week!

"Apostates " how honest are we?
by closed inas i mentioned in another post i used to serve as an elder for 2 decades.
i was involved in a number of jc.
some i dealt with are good friends now.

The funny thing about your opening post, Closed, is that you give the impression that YOU (as a JW elder) WERE ENTITLED to be treated "truthfully".
Whatever gave you that idea?
Are you not familiar with the doctrine of "Theocratic Warfare"? Some people are NOT ENTITLED to "The Trooth," you know.
As an elder, you were a yes-man for, and an official of, an Organization founded by a liar and perpetuated for the benefit of liars.
...and despite you claim to be leaving the WTB&TS (BEHOLD! A Divine Mystery! In, yet not in!), you seem to remain fixated on how you are supposed to be treated.
Get an enema, you're still full of shit, it seems.

What is your relationship with ALCOHOL?
by nicolaou inhere in the uk new drinking guidelines have been issued which suggest "no more than 14 units a week - equivalent to six pints of beer or seven glasses of wine.".
another piece of the advice which is getting a lot of attention is that "if people drink, it should be moderately over three or more days and that some days should be alcohol-free.".
already people are making cries of "nanny state!

I seldom drink. I've never been drunk.
Maybe THAT'S why I'm such a bastard.
I'm thinking of trying auto-trepanation, I've got a Bosch 1/2 hp hammer drill.

Putting your money into lottery tickets is foolish IFF* you are subsisting on a paycheck-to-paycheck or welfare payment-to-welfare-payment basis, but if you're in a better situation and the base of your hierarchy-of-needs is covered AND the money you're spending is your own**, what's the harm of taking a chance on winning HALF A BILLION DOLLARS?
Yes, the odds that YOU will win if you buy a ticket may be miniscule, but if you do not buy a ticket, the certainty that YOU WILL NOT WIN is 100%.
* It's in the dictionary, look it up. If you don't own a dictionary, call me "rood" or "harch".
** I realize that these conditions rule out half the people on this forum, but I'm talking to the other half.

What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?
by minimus inwhen i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".
so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

I was told by Bethelite Mike Smilnak in the early 1970s that my sideburns were 1/8" (3mm) too long.
Maybe in his own way, he was trying to show me what utter bullshit the Watchtower was. Probably not though.
